Seymour 'Swede' Levov, a legendary Newark athlete and successful businessman, sees his conventional upper-middle-class life unravel during the social and political turmoil of the 1960s. The tragedy centers on his daughter Merry, whose radical political turn leads to a fatal act of domestic terrorism. The novel explores the collapse of the American Dream through the lens of one family's disintegration.
