Groundskeeping

Set in Kentucky during the 2016 election, this story follows Owen Callahan, an aspiring writer who moves home to live with his uncle and grandfather. Working as a groundskeeper at a local college, he meets Alma Hazdic, a writer-in-residence from a Bosnian immigrant family. As the two begin a secret relationship, they must navigate their differing backgrounds, class identities, and family dynamics.
