The Last Kingdom

Captured as a boy by invading Danes, Saxon nobleman Uhtred is raised as one of their own and grows to embrace their warrior culture. As he reaches adulthood, he finds his loyalties divided between his Viking family and his Saxon heritage. He eventually enters the service of King Alfred the Great, playing a pivotal role in the defense of Wessex, the last English kingdom.
