Casey Peabody, a former child golf prodigy, arrives in Massachusetts in 1997 with no plan following her mother's death and a difficult breakup. While working as a waitress in Harvard Square and living in a cramped rental, she struggles to complete a novel she has been writing for six years. As she navigates romantic complications with two different men, she must fight to maintain her creative ambitions while balancing the demands of her daily life.
