Sula

Set in a Black neighborhood in Ohio known as 'The Bottom,' the novel follows the life-long friendship of Sula and Nel from the 1920s to the 1960s. Their bond is tested by a tragic accidental death and Sula's eventual defiance of social and community expectations.
