Catch-22

Set during World War II, the story follows Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces bombardier stationed on a Mediterranean island. Yossarian attempts to maintain his sanity while navigating a paradoxical bureaucratic rule that prevents airmen from being grounded for insanity if they are rational enough to request it. The novel is a satirical critique of military bureaucracy and the senselessness of war.
